Little Red Reading Van is a magical book mobile that spreads the joy of reading throughout the city of Calgary. The Little Red Reading Van will be open for drop-in visits from 3:00-5:00-pm. Families can explore our outdoor reading areas and enjoy books for children of all ages.
Come enjoy the open air, listen to a story, and help foster a love of reading within our community. Join us for read-aloud storytimes at 3:30 and 4:30pm. Each story time runs about 15 to 20 minutes. Everyone is welcome!

Little Red Reading House is a real house in Calgary’s historic Inglewood neighbourhood devoted to fostering a love a reading and early literacy. Filled with imaginative themed rooms and cozy book nooks, it is a magical space where children discover the joy of books and families share in the pleasure of reading together.
Our mobile book nook, the Little Red Reading Van, brings that same magic out into community. Throughout the summer, the van visits schools, parks and community events across Calgary and surrounding areas, delivering fun, engaging reading experiences for kids and families.
The house and van are proudly stewarded by the Owerko Centre at the University of Calgary, with support from the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. As a community-embedded research and experiential learning site, the house and van provide unique opportunities to connect with researchers, students, and partners in exploring early childhood literacy and child health.
